Deborah Davidson Harpur of Harbor City, CA is one of two founding members of “The Studio” in Rolling Hills, CA. Her main focus in subject matter is chickens, having gotten her start with memorial portraits of birds ( many beloved pets) slaughtered by the government in a statewide effort to control infectious Newcastle disease and save the poultry industry. She spends a lot of time in Portuguese Bend as several of her best friends are homeowners in the slide area. Her medium is acrylic on canvas, but also works with textiles as she has an MFA in Costume Design from UCLA. She runs Rescue Roos Adopt A Cock in the Port of LA, so she has no shortage of subjects. Her goal is to catch the personality of each bird she paints.
