Betsy Lohrer Hall
Long Beach-based visual artist Betsy Lohrer Hall was born in New York and grew up in
Southern California. Her art is process-oriented and abstract, ranging from mixed media works
on paper to installations and performances. She contemplates time and impermanence; this is
expressed in a variety of ways, from delicate, repeated marks on paper, to her use of simple,
fragile materials. \
She earned her MFA from California State University, Fullerton, and her BA in studio art from
Colorado College. In addition to exhibiting her art for nearly 30 years, with shows in the U.S., in
Thailand, and Taiwan, Hall has been teaching art and art history at the college-level for 20
years. As an extension of her art practice, Betsy Lohrer Hall opened Flux Art Space in 2018.
